Accepting help is BRAVE! Depression is real!

When thinking about the society that we all exist in, “accepting help is [immensely] brave”. As queer folks and as people of color, society teaches us that we’re not supposed to accept help and we’re definitely not supposed to ask for it. We need to do it on our own. We’re not strong enough if we can’t tolerate the constant never-ending racist and homophobic (etc.) violence we encounter on a daily basis. And if we accept help, we’re somehow taking advantage of “the system” and don’t deserve the same rights and privileges afforded to our white counterparts. Because society thinks that we’re not worth shit and therefore we don’t deserve shit.
Help comes in many forms and this is but one.
